Hi there Lovely Readers!
It's high time for the new beautiful members of my Creative Team to present their first projects this term. Today let's warmly welcome super talented Olya (don't miss our short introductory interview!) an let's fall in love with her art magic! Enter a very special mixed media artist's garden...

Hi creative Finnabair Fans!
Today it's time for my first inspiration for you and I must say it's a very exciting moment for me!
I really like Finnabair's products and first I wanted to show them all. But this is impossible because there are so many of them and they are all just great!
So I gave up on this thought and just started drawing and sketching a different plan. In the end, I created a canvas about creative spirits.
I believe each creator has a different spirit and it is always a beautiful one. I gathered my spirits in this magical garden and space and of course had to add the wings of inspiration!
I used a canvas for the base of my project. First, I wanted to create beautiful texture for the background and to do so, I used several stunning products -  one of them is Black Sand Texture Paste which is ideal for this.

To make my background even more interesting and varied, I added Art Stones in different sizes.
Then I covered everything with Black Gesso. I really like how Art Alchemy acrylic paints and Waxes show their colors on Black Gesso. This is real magic! Then I also used it to cover all the metal elements and moulds shapes.
When everything was well dried, I began to create space on the background with the help of acrylic paints. I used the Metallique paints and also added a little radiance with Green Mica Powder. This created a stunning effect on my black background.
When that was ready, I created a composition of my garden with different kinds of embellishments.
On wings of inspiration I used Mechanicals Wings as leaves, added some black paper flowers from Prima and different metal elements.
And again, I used acrylic paints to add color and this time I chose the super brilliant colors of the Sparks series. I am always delighted with their radiance!

Too add even more interest and makes things more dynamic, I reached for my favorite Art Stones! To adhere the stones to the composition, I use 3D Matte Gel and this time I didn't paint over them, leaving their original color as is.
Both the stones and the gel are among my favorite products! When the gel medium dries, it becomes really transparent and creates an invisible volume!

Finally, to emphasize the texture, I used another favorite of mine - Art Alchemy Waxes in Vintage Gold and White Gold.

I like to add a little bit of sparkle to my projects and I love to do that with Glass Glitters which are amazing little pieces of magic! If you prefer smaller particles, simply use glitter from Finnabair's range of beautiful Glitter Sets (here I reached for the 'Luminous' one).

The final touch in my garden are the small and almost invisible accents - Melange Art Pebbles. These transparent circles are just perfect and I love them a lot!
I'd like to leave you with my video in which you'll be able to see all the wonderful products in use and follow my creative process. Enjoy!

Well, I hope you liked my video and I was able to inspire you to want to touch the magic of colors and textures!

Create from your heart and always let the inspiration give you wings!
Dream and paint your dreams...

I wish you a pleasant and creative day and I'm sending you many many kisses. :)

With love, Olya

There is one more important news. Some of you may notice the announcement I've posted about my absence during Prima Art Venture 2018 in Phoenix, and Creativation 2018. It is a very sad moment for me but I have to take care of my health in the coming weeks and I won't be able to travel that far during that time. Here is the full text you could find on Facebook:

Dear Friends, as you all know some things in life come unexpectedly.
No matter how hard we try to predict, prevent and plan - there are some factors and happenings which are out of our control. One of these situations have just happened to me and sadly - it is affecting my travelling and teaching plans for the beginning of 2018.
Earlier this year we've found out there are some quite urgent health issues I have to deal with, and as I learned just recently, my surgery which I expected to happen later in 2018, is being moved to early December 2017. My recovery will take a few weeks and it is in a collision with my presence during Prima Art Venture and Creativation in Phoenix, in January 2018.
I'm writing all that with the deepest regret and sadness - I value personal contact with you all more than anything. I'd love to see you in the classroom and during my demos - there are so many exciting things to tell you about - but this won't be possible this time. I know Prima with their Educators and my Brand Ambassadors will do their best to present my new, beautiful products to you all. I will be doing my best to connect with you all too - through Facebook, Blog, and Instagram and together with my Creative Team we will be spreading the love for art and mixed-media, providing tutorials, demos and inspirations.
I hope for your understanding and best wishes for my speedy recovery so I will be able to join you soon. I'm very sorry to bring this news to you. my apologies for this situation.

I'm very proud to confirm that my Brand Ambassador, Riikka is going to take over my responsibilities during the shows. This crazy talented, sweet and friendly lady agreed to travel so far, teach and demo my products to the attendants of Creativation 2018.  I could not even dream I will be so lucky - I'm so grateful for her help! You can learn more about the event here!

Sending you all the best possible wishes and hugs

Joy In Monochrome

Hello & Happy Monday everyone!
We are starting a new week together with Karolina who's here to provide us all with a great positive vibe and creative energy - so much needed in this time of year when things can often get hectic.
We hope you'll feel tempted to use Karolina's tutorial and create your own set of pretty mixed media tags.

*   *   *   *
Hello there!

Sometimes I think to myself that too often we tend to remember and focus on things that make us sad or that are difficult in our lives. I decided to change that way of thinking!
I created a special set of tags and used the creative process to celebrate love and gratitude and to appreciate and take care of my playful inner child.
I was planning to make my tags quite simple but somehow they came out 'fluffy' and layered (I couldn't resist... ;) ) with a bit 'raw' backrounds.

Lately, I've been experimenting with watercolors and playing with different effects when you use such paints with all sorts of mixed media.
For example I discovered that they work much better with Clear Gesso insted of the White one. Sometimes, wet White Gesso reacts with wet watercolor paints and it loses its brilliance and the colors become pale. When working with Clear Gesso it never happens!
Creating my tags I had a lot of fun making watercolor splatters and splashes. You should really try this simple technique - there's so much joy in the process! :)
Experiment with different paints, colors, tools (toothbrushes work great too!) and also different distance from your paper - whatever the results, such splashes always beautifully complete any kind of project.
In this project I also used pieces of chipboard elements, lace, gauze and sisal fibres to add volume and texture and to complete my composition.

Even though I went for a monochromatic color palette, I think my tags are teeming with life and energy. One way to achieve such effect is using Graphite Texture Paste which breaks the monotone and provides great contrast for all the colors. I really love its grainy rough texture!
In this project I applied it through the 'Bubbles' stencil.

I love making projects using monochromatic or analogous colors and in this case I used Art Alchemy Metallique paints in Light Patina and Mermaid Teal and this way I got a perfectly balanced and harmonious effect.

I also added some warm accents with another Metallique paint in Steampunk Copper. This is my favorite color in the whole golden-brown range from Finnabair.

Of course I also have to mention the stunning new papers from 7 Dots Studio (Northern Lights collection) and my beloved set of Finnabair's stamps called 'Don't Forget To Fly' (the butterflies look brilliant when embossed on a piece of vellum!).

Please enjoy my video and use it as an inspiration for your own special set of tags that will help you keep your spirits high! :)

With December and Christmas just around the corner, I think it's especially important to look after ourselves and be careful not to lose all the joy during this busy time of preparations...

And what better way to pamper ourselves than with a cup of coffee and your favorite paints?! :)

Sometimes it's just these simple little things that make all the difference, right?
